Understanding migraine
What it is, and what we look at
Migraine is not simply a bad headache. It is a disorder of how the brain processes sensory input, and attacks unfold in phases — sometimes a warning phase hours before, occasionally a visual aura, then the headache itself, followed by a day or two of fogginess. Attacks commonly last from four hours to three days and are typically worsened by routine physical activity.
Treatment has two separate aims: relieving an attack, and reducing how often attacks occur. Identifying personal triggers is central to the second, and a headache diary recording timing, sleep, meals, cycle phase and stress is genuinely more useful than most investigations. Case taking builds this pattern with you.
Symptoms
You may recognise these
Causes & triggers
What tends to be behind it
- Skipped meals, dehydration and irregular sleep
- Hormonal changes around menstruation
- Stress, and the let-down period after stress
- Bright light, loud noise, strong smells and screen exposure
- Certain foods including aged cheese, chocolate and MSG in susceptible people
When to see a doctor promptly
Homeopathic treatment is not the right first step for these. Seek medical assessment if:
- A headache begins suddenly and is the worst you have ever had
- Headache follows a head injury, or comes with fever and neck stiffness
- There is weakness, slurred speech, confusion or persistent vision loss
How we work
Our approach at the clinic
Individualised prescribing
Homeopathy selects a remedy for the person, not only the diagnosis. Two patients with the same condition often receive different remedies.
Detailed case taking
Your first visit covers medical history, family history, current medication, diet, sleep and stress — all of it informs the prescription.
Works alongside your doctor
We never ask you to stop prescribed medication on your own. Any change is made gradually and in consultation with your treating physician.

Common questions
Asked before the first visit
Facial pressure with nasal symptoms is often assumed to be sinusitis, but studies repeatedly find that most self-diagnosed sinus headaches are actually migraine. Nausea, light sensitivity and worsening with movement point to migraine. Getting this right changes the treatment entirely.

Talk to a doctor about your case
Bring your reports and current prescriptions. The first consultation is a full case assessment, and you will be told plainly if another specialist is the better route.
