Understanding menstrual disorders

What it is, and what we look at

Menstrual problems are grouped by pattern: dysmenorrhoea (painful periods), menorrhagia (heavy bleeding), oligomenorrhoea (infrequent cycles) and premenstrual syndrome. Each points toward different underlying causes, from hormonal imbalance and thyroid disease to fibroids, endometriosis and adenomyosis.

Severe period pain that stops you functioning is not something to accept as normal — it is a recognised reason to investigate for endometriosis, which is frequently diagnosed years later than it should be. Case taking records cycle length, flow, pain severity and timing, clot size, and any bleeding between periods.

Symptoms

You may recognise these

Cramping pain before or during periods
Bleeding that soaks through protection hourly, or lasts beyond seven days
Passing large clots
Cycles shorter than 21 days or longer than 35 days
Bleeding between periods or after intercourse
Premenstrual mood change, breast tenderness and bloating

Causes & triggers

What tends to be behind it

  • Hormonal imbalance, including PCOS and thyroid disorders
  • Uterine fibroids, polyps and adenomyosis
  • Endometriosis
  • Iron deficiency, which both results from and worsens heavy bleeding
  • Significant weight change, excessive exercise and chronic stress

When to see a doctor promptly

Homeopathic treatment is not the right first step for these. Seek medical assessment if:

  • Bleeding is heavy enough to cause dizziness or breathlessness
  • There is bleeding between periods, after intercourse or after menopause
  • Pain is severe enough to prevent you from working or studying

How we work

Our approach at the clinic

Individualised prescribing

Homeopathy selects a remedy for the person, not only the diagnosis. Two patients with the same condition often receive different remedies.

Detailed case taking

Your first visit covers medical history, family history, current medication, diet, sleep and stress — all of it informs the prescription.

Works alongside your doctor

We never ask you to stop prescribed medication on your own. Any change is made gradually and in consultation with your treating physician.

Common questions

Asked before the first visit

Soaking through a pad or tampon every hour for several hours, needing double protection, passing clots larger than a rupee coin, or bleeding beyond seven days all count as heavy. So does bleeding that leaves you tired and breathless — that suggests anaemia and needs a haemoglobin check.

Talk to a doctor about your case

Bring your reports and current prescriptions. The first consultation is a full case assessment, and you will be told plainly if another specialist is the better route.
