Uterine Fibroids treatment

Fibroids are non-cancerous growths of the muscular wall of the uterus. They are common, frequently symptomless, and only need treatment when they cause problems.

Understanding uterine fibroids

What it is, and what we look at

Fibroids are benign and very common, particularly in women in their thirties and forties. Many are found incidentally on a scan and cause no symptoms at all. When they do cause symptoms, it depends far more on their position than their size — a small fibroid distorting the uterine cavity can cause heavy bleeding, while a large one on the outer wall may cause none.

Fibroids are oestrogen-responsive and typically shrink after menopause. Management ranges from monitoring, through medical treatment of bleeding, to surgery where symptoms are severe or fertility is affected. Case taking covers bleeding pattern, pressure symptoms, anaemia and fertility plans, alongside scan findings.

Symptoms

You may recognise these

Heavy or prolonged menstrual bleeding
Pelvic pressure, fullness or a feeling of heaviness
Frequent urination from pressure on the bladder
Pain during periods or intercourse
Lower back or leg discomfort
Fatigue and breathlessness from resulting anaemia

Causes & triggers

What tends to be behind it

  • Oestrogen and progesterone stimulation of uterine muscle
  • Genetic and family predisposition
  • Early onset of periods
  • Obesity, which raises circulating oestrogen
  • Vitamin D deficiency, associated in some studies

When to see a doctor promptly

Homeopathic treatment is not the right first step for these. Seek medical assessment if:

  • Bleeding is heavy enough to cause dizziness, breathlessness or fainting
  • There is sudden severe pelvic pain
  • A fibroid grows rapidly, or new symptoms appear after menopause

How we work

Our approach at the clinic

Individualised prescribing

Homeopathy selects a remedy for the person, not only the diagnosis. Two patients with the same condition often receive different remedies.

Detailed case taking

Your first visit covers medical history, family history, current medication, diet, sleep and stress — all of it informs the prescription.

Works alongside your doctor

We never ask you to stop prescribed medication on your own. Any change is made gradually and in consultation with your treating physician.

Common questions

Asked before the first visit

No treatment reliably dissolves fibroids. Medical treatment aims at controlling bleeding and symptoms; some hormonal treatments shrink fibroids temporarily but they regrow on stopping. Definitive removal is surgical. Treatment here is aimed at symptom control and anaemia, with scan monitoring.

Talk to a doctor about your case

Bring your reports and current prescriptions. The first consultation is a full case assessment, and you will be told plainly if another specialist is the better route.
