Understanding kidney stones

What it is, and what we look at

Stones form when urine becomes concentrated enough for minerals to crystallise. Calcium oxalate stones are the most common. A stone sitting in the kidney may cause nothing at all; pain begins when it moves into the ureter and obstructs urine flow, producing severe colicky loin pain that radiates to the groin, often with nausea and blood in the urine.

Recurrence rates are high — a substantial proportion of people form another stone within five to ten years. Prevention therefore matters more than treating a single episode, and the strongest single measure is fluid intake sufficient to produce 2 to 2.5 litres of urine daily. Stone composition, where known, guides more specific dietary advice.

Symptoms

You may recognise these

Severe colicky pain in the loin radiating to the groin
Pain coming in waves, with restlessness
Blood in the urine
Nausea and vomiting during an episode
Frequent urge to urinate, or burning
Fever and chills if infection develops

Causes & triggers

What tends to be behind it

  • Inadequate fluid intake and concentrated urine
  • High salt and animal protein intake
  • High-oxalate foods in susceptible people
  • Hot climate and occupational dehydration
  • Family history, obesity, gout and certain metabolic conditions

When to see a doctor promptly

Homeopathic treatment is not the right first step for these. Seek medical assessment if:

  • There is fever with loin pain — an infected obstructed kidney is an emergency
  • You are unable to pass urine at all
  • Pain is uncontrolled, or accompanied by persistent vomiting

How we work

Our approach at the clinic

Individualised prescribing

Homeopathy selects a remedy for the person, not only the diagnosis. Two patients with the same condition often receive different remedies.

Detailed case taking

Your first visit covers medical history, family history, current medication, diet, sleep and stress — all of it informs the prescription.

Works alongside your doctor

We never ask you to stop prescribed medication on your own. Any change is made gradually and in consultation with your treating physician.

Common questions

Asked before the first visit

Enough to produce about 2 to 2.5 litres of urine a day, which in Hyderabad's climate usually means drinking noticeably more than that. The practical marker is urine that stays pale through the day. This is the single most effective preventive measure.

Talk to a doctor about your case

Bring your reports and current prescriptions. The first consultation is a full case assessment, and you will be told plainly if another specialist is the better route.
