Childhood Asthma treatment

Asthma in children often shows up as a persistent night cough or breathlessness on running, rather than obvious wheezing. Control is measured in school days attended and nights slept through.

Understanding childhood asthma

What it is, and what we look at

Childhood asthma frequently presents differently from the adult picture. A child may have no dramatic wheeze at all, but a dry cough that appears at night, after running or after a cold, and lingers for weeks. Many children have coexisting eczema or allergic rhinitis.

Good asthma control in a child means: sleeping through the night, playing and running like peers, no school absence from chest symptoms, and minimal reliever inhaler use. Those are the measures used at review here. An inhaler and a written action plan from the paediatrician remain essential — homeopathic treatment is added alongside, never instead.

Symptoms

You may recognise these

Dry cough at night or in the early morning
Coughing or breathlessness after running or playing
Wheezing sound while breathing out
Chest tightness described as 'chest paining'
Symptoms worsening with colds, dust or weather change
Tiredness and reduced participation in sport

Causes & triggers

What tends to be behind it

  • Family history of asthma, eczema or allergic rhinitis
  • House dust mites, pollen, pets and mould
  • Viral respiratory infections
  • Passive smoke exposure and air pollution
  • Exercise, cold air and emotional excitement as triggers

When to see a doctor promptly

Homeopathic treatment is not the right first step for these. Seek medical assessment if:

  • The child is breathless at rest, or cannot speak in full sentences
  • The reliever inhaler is needed more often, or helps less than before
  • Lips or fingertips look blue, or the child becomes drowsy — seek emergency care

How we work

Our approach at the clinic

Individualised prescribing

Homeopathy selects a remedy for the person, not only the diagnosis. Two patients with the same condition often receive different remedies.

Detailed case taking

Your first visit covers medical history, family history, current medication, diet, sleep and stress — all of it informs the prescription.

Works alongside your doctor

We never ask you to stop prescribed medication on your own. Any change is made gradually and in consultation with your treating physician.

Common questions

Asked before the first visit

Inhalers are not habit-forming. Preventer inhalers reduce airway inflammation, and reliever inhalers open the airways during an attack. Withholding them out of fear of dependence is a genuine cause of avoidable emergency visits.

Talk to a doctor about your case

Bring your reports and current prescriptions. The first consultation is a full case assessment, and you will be told plainly if another specialist is the better route.
