Understanding supportive care during cancer treatment

What it is, and what we look at

Cancer treatment remains led by the oncology team through surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, immunotherapy or hormonal therapy as appropriate. Our clinic's role is supportive care for wellbeing and comfort during that treatment, with the oncologist kept informed.

What supportive care can reasonably address is quality of life during treatment — appetite, sleep, fatigue, anxiety and general wellbeing — as an addition to the oncology team's own supportive medicine. Any herbal or homeopathic product must be disclosed to your oncologist, because some substances interact with chemotherapy and hormonal drugs and can reduce their effectiveness.

Symptoms

You may recognise these

Fatigue during and after chemotherapy or radiotherapy
Nausea and loss of appetite
Disturbed sleep
Anxiety and low mood around treatment
Mouth soreness and taste change
General weakness and reduced stamina

Causes & triggers

What tends to be behind it

  • Side effects of chemotherapy, radiotherapy and immunotherapy
  • Effects of surgery and recovery
  • Nutritional depletion and anaemia during treatment
  • Emotional strain of diagnosis and treatment
  • Disturbed sleep and reduced physical activity

How we work

Our approach at the clinic

Individualised prescribing

Homeopathy selects a remedy for the person, not only the diagnosis. Two patients with the same condition often receive different remedies.

Detailed case taking

Your first visit covers medical history, family history, current medication, diet, sleep and stress — all of it informs the prescription.

Works alongside your doctor

We never ask you to stop prescribed medication on your own. Any change is made gradually and in consultation with your treating physician.

Common questions

Asked before the first visit

Our role is supportive care for appetite, sleep, fatigue, anxiety and general wellbeing while oncology treatment continues. Keep your oncologist informed about every medicine or product you use so care remains coordinated and safe.

Talk to a doctor about your case

Bring your reports and current prescriptions. The first consultation is a full case assessment, and you will be told plainly if another specialist is the better route.
