Autoimmune Disorders treatment

In autoimmune disease the immune system attacks the body's own tissue. Which organ is affected determines the condition — thyroid, joints, skin, gut or connective tissue.

Understanding autoimmune disorders

What it is, and what we look at

Autoimmune conditions share a mechanism but differ completely in what they affect: Hashimoto's thyroiditis targets the thyroid, rheumatoid arthritis the joints, psoriasis and vitiligo the skin, coeliac disease the small intestine, and lupus multiple systems at once. They are more common in women, frequently run in families, and often cluster — one autoimmune diagnosis raises the likelihood of another.

They are chronic conditions that are managed rather than cured, and several — rheumatoid arthritis and lupus in particular — cause irreversible organ damage if immunosuppressive treatment is delayed. Homeopathic care here is supportive alongside specialist management. Where a condition needs rheumatology or endocrinology input, you will be referred rather than treated indefinitely here.

Symptoms

You may recognise these

Persistent fatigue disproportionate to activity
Joint pain, swelling and prolonged morning stiffness
Skin rashes, patches or unusual sensitivity to sunlight
Unexplained fever and weight change
Digestive symptoms and nutrient deficiencies
Hair loss, dry eyes and dry mouth

Causes & triggers

What tends to be behind it

  • Loss of immune tolerance to the body's own tissue
  • Strong genetic and familial predisposition
  • Female sex — most autoimmune conditions are more common in women
  • Infections and environmental exposures as possible triggers
  • Smoking, an established risk factor for several autoimmune diseases

When to see a doctor promptly

Homeopathic treatment is not the right first step for these. Seek medical assessment if:

  • There is joint swelling with morning stiffness lasting beyond six weeks
  • There is unexplained fever, weight loss, or a rash across the cheeks and nose
  • There is breathlessness, chest pain, or new kidney or neurological symptoms

How we work

Our approach at the clinic

Individualised prescribing

Homeopathy selects a remedy for the person, not only the diagnosis. Two patients with the same condition often receive different remedies.

Detailed case taking

Your first visit covers medical history, family history, current medication, diet, sleep and stress — all of it informs the prescription.

Works alongside your doctor

We never ask you to stop prescribed medication on your own. Any change is made gradually and in consultation with your treating physician.

Common questions

Asked before the first visit

No system of medicine cures autoimmune disease. It can be brought into remission and controlled, sometimes for long periods. Claims of permanent cure are not supportable, and acting on them can mean delaying treatment that prevents permanent organ damage.

Talk to a doctor about your case

Bring your reports and current prescriptions. The first consultation is a full case assessment, and you will be told plainly if another specialist is the better route.

Do not stop or change any prescribed medication without speaking to the doctor who prescribed it. In an emergency, contact a hospital immediately.
