Understanding osteoarthritis
What it is, and what we look at
In osteoarthritis the cartilage cushioning a joint gradually thins, so bone surfaces move with less protection. Pain typically worsens through the day and with activity, improves with rest, and comes with stiffness lasting under 30 minutes after inactivity. Knees are the most commonly affected joint in India, and excess body weight is the single largest modifiable factor.
The evidence here is unambiguous on one point: appropriately prescribed exercise and weight reduction do more for knee osteoarthritis than most medicines, despite the intuition that a painful joint should be rested. Treatment supports pain management while that work continues.
Symptoms
You may recognise these
Causes & triggers
What tends to be behind it
- Age-related cartilage wear
- Excess body weight loading the knees and hips
- Previous joint injury or surgery
- Repetitive squatting, kneeling and heavy manual work
- Genetic factors and muscle weakness around the joint
When to see a doctor promptly
Homeopathic treatment is not the right first step for these. Seek medical assessment if:
- A joint becomes suddenly hot, red and swollen with fever
- The joint locks, gives way, or you cannot bear weight
- Pain wakes you at night regularly, or is unrelieved by rest
How we work
Our approach at the clinic
Individualised prescribing
Homeopathy selects a remedy for the person, not only the diagnosis. Two patients with the same condition often receive different remedies.
Detailed case taking
Your first visit covers medical history, family history, current medication, diet, sleep and stress — all of it informs the prescription.
Works alongside your doctor
We never ask you to stop prescribed medication on your own. Any change is made gradually and in consultation with your treating physician.

Common questions
Asked before the first visit
Not beyond an acute flare. Prolonged rest weakens the quadriceps, which the knee depends on for stability, and that makes the pain worse over time. Guided strengthening and low-impact activity are among the best-supported treatments for knee osteoarthritis.

Talk to a doctor about your case
Bring your reports and current prescriptions. The first consultation is a full case assessment, and you will be told plainly if another specialist is the better route.
