Understanding fibromyalgia
What it is, and what we look at
Fibromyalgia involves altered pain processing — the nervous system amplifies pain signals, so ordinary sensation is registered as painful. Blood tests and scans are typically normal, which frequently leads patients to be told nothing is wrong. That is incorrect: the condition is recognised and the pain is real, it simply is not caused by tissue damage.
The best-supported treatments are graded aerobic exercise, sleep improvement and psychological approaches such as CBT, with medication playing a supporting role. Progress tends to be gradual. Case taking covers pain distribution, sleep quality, mood and function, and screens for thyroid disease, vitamin D deficiency and inflammatory arthritis, which can mimic it.
Symptoms
You may recognise these
Causes & triggers
What tends to be behind it
- Altered central pain processing
- Sleep disturbance, which both results from and worsens the condition
- Physical or emotional trauma preceding onset
- Family history of chronic pain conditions
- Coexisting anxiety, depression and other chronic pain disorders
When to see a doctor promptly
Homeopathic treatment is not the right first step for these. Seek medical assessment if:
- There is joint swelling, rash, or fever — this suggests a different diagnosis
- There is progressive weakness or unintended weight loss
- Symptoms worsen despite treatment, or mood becomes severely low
How we work
Our approach at the clinic
Individualised prescribing
Homeopathy selects a remedy for the person, not only the diagnosis. Two patients with the same condition often receive different remedies.
Detailed case taking
Your first visit covers medical history, family history, current medication, diet, sleep and stress — all of it informs the prescription.
Works alongside your doctor
We never ask you to stop prescribed medication on your own. Any change is made gradually and in consultation with your treating physician.

Common questions
Asked before the first visit
Yes. Fibromyalgia is a recognised condition in which pain processing is altered rather than tissue being damaged, so investigations look normal by definition. Normal tests exclude other diagnoses; they do not mean the pain is imagined.

Talk to a doctor about your case
Bring your reports and current prescriptions. The first consultation is a full case assessment, and you will be told plainly if another specialist is the better route.
