Fatty Liver treatment

Fatty liver is the accumulation of excess fat in liver cells. It is usually symptomless, commonly found incidentally on a scan, and often reversible with sustained lifestyle change.

Understanding fatty liver

What it is, and what we look at

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease is now very common in India, including in people who are not visibly overweight. It is closely linked to insulin resistance, abdominal fat, type 2 diabetes and abnormal lipids. Most cases cause no symptoms at all and are picked up on an ultrasound done for another reason, or through mildly raised liver enzymes.

It matters because a proportion progresses to inflammation (steatohepatitis) and, over years, to fibrosis. The encouraging part is that it is one of the more reversible conditions in this list: sustained weight loss of around 7 to 10 percent of body weight can substantially reduce liver fat and inflammation. That is the core of the plan, with treatment supporting it.

Symptoms

You may recognise these

Usually no symptoms at all in early stages
Vague fullness or discomfort in the right upper abdomen
Fatigue and low energy
Mildly raised liver enzymes on blood tests
Increased waist circumference
Often found alongside diabetes, high cholesterol or high blood pressure

Causes & triggers

What tends to be behind it

  • Insulin resistance and metabolic syndrome
  • Excess abdominal fat, including in people of normal weight
  • Type 2 diabetes and abnormal cholesterol
  • High intake of refined carbohydrates and fructose
  • Physical inactivity; alcohol in alcoholic fatty liver

When to see a doctor promptly

Homeopathic treatment is not the right first step for these. Seek medical assessment if:

  • There is yellowing of the eyes or skin, or swelling of the abdomen or legs
  • There is vomiting of blood or black stool
  • Liver enzymes remain persistently raised on repeat testing

How we work

Our approach at the clinic

Individualised prescribing

Homeopathy selects a remedy for the person, not only the diagnosis. Two patients with the same condition often receive different remedies.

Detailed case taking

Your first visit covers medical history, family history, current medication, diet, sleep and stress — all of it informs the prescription.

Works alongside your doctor

We never ask you to stop prescribed medication on your own. Any change is made gradually and in consultation with your treating physician.

Common questions

Asked before the first visit

In its earlier stages, yes — this is well established. Sustained weight loss of around 7 to 10 percent of body weight reduces liver fat and can reverse inflammation. Established fibrosis is much harder to reverse, which is why acting early is worth the effort.

Talk to a doctor about your case

Bring your reports and current prescriptions. The first consultation is a full case assessment, and you will be told plainly if another specialist is the better route.
